  • Info: Live streaming webcam of a Great horned owl nesting in Arizona. The great horned owl, also known as the tiger owl or the hoot owl, is a large owl native to the Americas. These are large, thick-bodied owls with two prominent feathered tufts on the head.

  • More Info: The great horned owls usually start their nesting behaviour in late December or early January in Arizona. They will stay on the nest until around late May. Between one to six eggs may be laid but the usual is two and they only lay eggs once a year. The incubation period is 28 to 35 days and after 5 weeks the owlets may leave the nest and climb on nearby branches and will fly at about 9-10 weeks. They will be tended and fed by the parents for up to several months.
