More info: The Wolf Conservation Center is located in South Salem, New York (Westchester County) United States.

The Wolf Conservation Center was founded by Hélène Grimaud in 1999 and is a non profit environmental education organization. It teaches people about wolves, their relationship to the environment and the human role in protecting their future.

The Mexican gray wolf weighs between 50 and 85 pounds, which only just over half the size of its northern cousin, the North American gray wolf. In the wild, Mexican wolves live in the mountain forests and grasslands in remote areas of Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico.

According to the 2021 annual count, the U.S. population of Mexican wolves has increased by 5 percent since the previous year, raising the total number of wolves in the wild from 186 in 2020 to 196 in 2021. While this represents an overall increase, the pace of recovery is being hampered by illegal killings, disease, and genetic mismanagement.
