- Info: Live streaming webcam at the red panda house at Trevor Zoo in New York. The red panda is a mostly herbivorous and like the giant panda, it is specialized in feeding on bamboo which makes up around two-thirds of its diet.
More info: The red panda is endemic to the Himalayas in Bhutan, southern China, India, Laos, Nepal, and Burma. They are usually found on the outher slopes of the Himalayas and the mountainous forests at altitudes of up to 4,800 meters, and generally do not venture below 1,800 meters.
Currently the red panda is classified as endangered, with an estimated population of fewer than 2,500 mature individuals.
