More Info: OdySea Aquarium is in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is a marine aquarium, and the largest aquarium in the Southwest United States. It holds more than 2,000,000 US gallons of water and spans over 200,000 square feet and is home to 30,000 animals.

OdySea Aquarium’s Open Ocean exhibit has five species of sharks including sandbar, sand tiger and lemon sharks.

Shark waters holds just under 400,000 gallons of ocean water, and houses over twenty different sharks of four different species.

The largest sharks in the exhibit are lemon sharks. They are over eight feet in length and weigh over 250 pounds. They are called Lemon sharks as some individuals have a yellowish coloration to them.

The large silver sharks are called Sandbar sharks. They are one of the most common sharks found off the Atlantic coast of the United States. The sharks that are moving slowly around the exhibit are the sand tiger sharks. The other shark species seen is the nurse shark which has a much rounder face and flatter body than the other sharks and they are often seen resting on the bottom.
