More info: Mallorca has a significant population of Black Vultures (Aegypius monachus), specifically in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. Once close to extinction, intense conservation efforts have increased their numbers, with around 350 black vultures now living on the island. While no longer on the brink of extinction, they are still considered a vulnerable, protected species.
The black vulture is also known as the monk vulture, Eurasian black vulture or the cinereous Vulture.
