More info: The daily vulture feeding is part of a unique conservation initiative that supports these endangered scavengers.
There are six species of vulture in Zimbabwe: White-backed Vulture, White-headed Vulture, Hooded Vulture, Lappet-faced Vulture, Cape Vulture, and Palm-nut Vulture. They are all considered to be vulnerable and threatened. Vultures face a myriad of threats including unintentional and intentional poisoning, harvesting for belief-based use, reduced food availability and a shrinking habitat.
vultures are extremely important to the environment. They are nature's cleanup crew, consuming carrion (dead animals) and preventing the spread of disease. Because of their unique digestive system, they are able to break down bacteria and pathogens that would otherwise be harmful to other animals and humans.
