More info: The hobby is a member of the falcon family, roughly the same size as a kestrel and the second smallest falcon in the UK. The Eurasian hobby is a small slim falcon capable of high speed aerial manoeveres and in flight, its long, sharply pointed wings give the appearance of an oversized swift.
The diet of the hobby falcon consists of birds, including larks, martins, swifts, finches and sparrows. It also preys on flying insects such as dragonflies, moths, and locusts, as well as ants and termites. It may also snatch flying bats, especially during challenging migratory journeys.
