Live streaming webcam showing ospreys breeding and nesting in Southwest Finland. The birds usually arrive around mid April. Ospreys that spend their summer in Finland migrate to West Africa for the winter, returning in the spring.

More info: Ospreys nest throughout Finland and it is estimated there are around 1,100 to 1,300 breeding pairs. They nest in areas with suitable nesting sites and fishing waters, including shores, islets, and islands of water bodies. Ospreys, along with their nests and nesting trees, are legally protected in Finland.

There are numerous lakes, bays, hills, archipelagos, islands, wilds, and swamps in Finland, especially in the Häme, Satakunta and Savo regions, whose names begin with either the word sääksi or sääks, both of which refer to the osprey’s Finnish name sääksi.
