More info: The Cabrera Archipelago National Park was established in 1991 which allowed the osprey population to stabilize, after a mid-century decline. This has made the island of Cabrera home to one of the highest breeding densities of ospreys in the Mediterranean.

The Cabrera Maritime-Terrestrial National Park is an area with the greatest diversity of fish in the Mediterranean Sea and has been declared a Special Protection Area for Birds. The park is the largest in Spain, covering 908 square kilometres including 895 square kilometres of sea area.

The National Park is home to more than 400 botanical species and supports more than 200 animals, both marine and terrestrial. There are around 160 species of marine plants, including some algae, such as Posidonia oceanica.
