More info: A young pair of Peregrine Falcons first nested at Derby Cathedral in 2006 when a small wooden ledge was installed on the East face of the tower.

Breeding pairs of peregrines tend to be monogamous throughout their lifespan and return to the same nesting location year after year. Pairs engage in dramatic aerial acrobatics, including food passes in mid-air, before laying eggs in scrapes—shallow, unlined depressions in gravel or soil. Three to five eggs with red-brown blotches are laid, typically in April, at 48 to 72 hour intervals. Both parents incubate the eggs for 29 to 35 days.
