More info: White Storks (Ciconia ciconia) are very common in Valladolid and the surrounding Castilla y León region. They can be seen across the towns and countryside nesting on structures such as church towers and chimneys.
White storks generally begin breeding when about four years old. The female stork typically lays four eggs and incubation begins as soon as the first egg is laid, so the brood hatches asynchronously, beginning 33 to 34 days later. The first chick hatched typically has a competitive edge over the others and whilst stronger chicks are not aggressive towards weaker siblings, they are sometimes killed by their parents, especially if food is in short supply. Chicks fledge 58 to 64 days after hatching.
