Tawny Owls are a resident, sedentary and highly territorial breeding species in the UK. They are responsible for the most commonly heard owl sound, the classic, nocturnal ‘twit twoo’ call, which is not just one owl but comes from the male and the femalecalling each other.
The male tawny owl courts the female for several weeks before mating. The female lays a clutch of 2 to 5 white egg from around March onwards at intervalsof up to a week aart. The female starts to incubate the fist egg which means the eggs Hatch at diffeent times and the chicks vary in size.
