More info: White tailed eagles (also known as sea eagles), are massive birds, often called "flying barn doors" due to their huge 8-foot wingspan. They were reintroduced to Scotland in the 1970s and have since established a steadily increasing population across the archipelago. adult white tailed eagles are resident and can be seen year round, defending their territories. They are often more active in Winter nd early Spring, when they build up to the breeding season and may venture further inland in search of carrion. Although they are capable hunters they often scavenge on carrion especially during the winter months.
