More info: Kruger Shalati is a Gateway to the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Kruger wa established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld and is unrivalled in the diversity of its wildlife and delivers some of the finest game viewing in the World.
The Sabie River enters Kruger National Park near Phabeni. From Skukuza onwards, the river flows more gently, with its channels carving islands crowded with matumis and the river banks shaded by huge sycamore figs. The Sabie River, and its corridor of riverine bush, provides essential habitat for a wide diversity of game including hippo, bushbuck, kudu, waterbuck, grey duiker, elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard.
Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge is a static train perched on the Selati Bridge above the Sabie River which provides luxury ccommodation in converted train carriages. It pays homage to the 1920s when the Kruger Park was opened to its first visitors who would travel by train which would stop and overnight on Selati Bridge, in the exact location in which the Kruger Shalati is now permanently located.
