Majete Wildlife Resevre hosts over 12,000 animals, including elephants, black rhinos, lions, and cheetahs, and is a major conservation success story. Located close to the city of Blantyre, it covers an area of 70.000 hectares.

More info: The eastern boundary of Majete Wildlife Reserve follows the wide, fast-flowing Shire River, which drains from Lake Malawi and flows south into the Zambezi River. The Mkulumadzi River also flows through the reserve, converging with the Shire.
The rivers create lush riparian forests and sandy banks, which attract large numbers of animals, especially during the dry season.
