More Info: Kambaku Wildlife Reserve is home to numerous antelope species including impala, oryx, blue wilderbeest, kudu, hartebeest, eland and the smaller duiker and steinbok.

Various big cats are active on Kambaku Wildlife Reserve. Although it is rare to be lucky enough to meet a leopard or one of the cheetahs, their tracks are evident everywhere. Servals and smaller cats also live in the reserve as well as jackals.

Other wildlife found on the reserve includes giraffe, zebra, brown hyenas, porcupine, aardvark and the endangered pangolin. There are no elephant or lion present.

Bird-life is varied and visitors may see secretary birds, martial and tawny eagles, pale chanting-goshawks, lappet-faced vultures, helmeted guinea fowl and ostrich.

The summer rainy season in this area is from November to mid-April and generally brings fairly short downpours accompanied by thunderstorms which transform the red-brown savannah in to a green oasis providing much needed food for the wildlife.

In May, the dry winter season begins in Namibia and the daytime temperatures cool down to between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. The nights can get cold with temperatures reaching only single digits.

When there is no rainfall, the natural water sources in the bush dry up and the landscape turns typically golden yellow. It is the time when many animals can be observed easily, especially at the water holes.
